What are Sealants?
Dental sealants are a thin, protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars and premolars), where cavities are most likely to form. Made from a plastic material, sealants act as a barrier, protecting teeth from bacteria, food particles, and acids that can cause tooth decay. Sealants are a highly effective preventative measure, especially for children and teens, who are more prone to cavities in these hard-to-reach areas.
The Procedure

Cleaning - Your dentist will thoroughly clean and dry the tooth to ensure the sealant bonds properly.

Etching - A special gel is applied to the tooth to roughen the surface, allowing the sealant to adhere better.

Applying the Sealant - The liquid sealant is then painted onto the grooves of the tooth’s surface.

Curing - A special light is used to harden the sealant, ensuring it stays in place and provides long-lasting protection.
